How We Got Started

Songmont began when founder Song couldn't find a bag that fit her needs during her commute after giving birth. Still navigating postpartum depression, she sought something to lift her spirits.

With a lineage of artistry—her grandmother a local craftswoman, her mother inheriting those skills—Song made her first bag with her mom, an emerald laptop bag, while still working as a UI/UX designer at Google.

To her surprise, it was warmly received by friends, colleagues, and even strangers. That moment of encouragement became the seed of Songmont.

The Story Behind the Name

The name Songmont draws from Eastern aesthetics, evoking the sound of pine trees on a quiet plain with mountains in the distance. It also echoes the meaning of the founder's name in Chinese.

Rooted in the Middle China, the "Song" of "Mountain" recalls ancient folk ballads—guiding us to craft bags that endure through time, suit modern life, and bring lasting joy.

What We Value

We believe design belongs to daily life, not just to a select few.

Song is the director of product since day one. Through our bags, we invite people on a journey eastward: to meet its artisans, walk among its ancient buildings, sense its living culture, and embrace the past to design for the future.

Our Design Philosophy

Every design is a dialogue: between ease of use and safety of your belongings, the structure of the design and softness of the texture, quality of the overall material, and accessibility of the price.

We draw inspiration from the tech world—user-centered philosophy, constant iteration, and first principle thinking. Above all, we let the product speak for itself.

We do not chase trends, nor innovate for novelty's sake.
