Tumbled leather celebrates the natural character of the hide, allowing its grain to emerge through time, movement, and craftsmanship. Songmont uses a traditional tumbling process to gently transform carefully selected full-grain leather, allowing it to naturally contract and develop a tactile surface. Rather than creating a uniform texture, the process preserves the individuality of each piece, leaving the leather with a character that feels both substantial and naturally lived-in.

Songmont's Tumbled Leather Craft

Songmont begins with hand-selected A-grade full-grain bull leather, up to 2.5 mm thick, with clearly defined pores, a refined texture, and a supple, resilient feel.

Through more than 30 artisanal processes, the hides are slowly worked in large wooden drums with natural tanning agents, including fish oil, neatsfoot oil, and tanning extracts. Over 30 to 60 days, the leather gradually contracts, revealing a naturally irregular, dimensional grain that gives each piece its own character.

Rather than pressing a pattern onto the surface, Songmont lets the leather develop its texture from within. The result is a grain that feels full and tactile, with subtle variations that make every piece quietly its own.

Expressions of Songmont Tumbled Leather

Across the Drippy Roof, Luna, and Song collections, tumbled leather takes on different forms while retaining its naturally relaxed character. Its pronounced grain, supple touch, and substantial feel bring depth to each silhouette, while the leather’s natural oils gradually enrich its surface with use.

As these pieces become part of everyday life, their character continues to unfold. The grain softens and deepens with time, gathering subtle traces of use and allowing each silhouette to develop a presence that feels increasingly personal.
